About

Wizart DCC Platform is an open-source 3D editor built around Pixar's Universal Scene Description. It grew out of ten years of R&D inside a working animation studio — not out of a roadmap.

10

Years of R&D

A decade of production software development for animation and VFX pipelines, turned into a platform other studios can use.

USD

Native format

Stages, layers and composition arcs are the working model, not an export step. Scenes stay editable from layout to final render.

OS

Open source

Studios can audit, patch and extend the tool their artists depend on. No black boxes in the middle of a pipeline.

Why we build it

Animation and VFX teams lose time in the seams between applications: a model in one tool, a groom in another, assembly in a third. Every hand-off costs a conversion and a little fidelity.

A format everyone can agree on removes most of that friction. USD already is that format — what was missing was a fast, open editor to work in it directly. That is what Wizart DCC is for.

How we work

  • Production first. Features ship when they survive a real shot, not a demo.
  • Open by default. Roadmap, issues and code live in the open.
  • Interoperable. Blender, Houdini, Maya and Solaris stay part of the pipeline.
  • Documented. Pipeline guides and release notes ship with the build.
